We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s first ever Christmas in Chelsea! Below you’ll find answers to some common questions to help you plan your visit and make the most of this special event.

1. What are the dates and times for Christmas in Chelsea?

The Christmas event will run from Wednesday 4th to Sunday 29th December. The gates will open daily from 4.30pm - 8pm.

2. How do I get to the Royal Hospital Chelsea?

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is located in the heart of Chelsea, London. Our entrance is via the Barrack Gate leading to Ranelagh Gardens from Chelsea Bridge Road. The Barrack Gate provides a direct and scenic route into the event area. There will be event signage and staff to help guide you to the festivities. Look for signs or our friendly event staff to guide you from the Barrack Gate.

For easy access via public transport:

  • Underground: Sloane Square (District and Circle lines) is a 5-10 minute walk.
  • Bus: Bus routes 170, 11, 137, and 360 stop nearby.
  • Parking: Please note that there is no public parking on site, so we recommend using public transport or nearby parking facilities.

3. What can I expect at Christmas in Chelsea ?

You can expect a festive atmosphere filled with holiday joy! From twinkling lights and beautifully decorated Christmas trees to live performances and family-friendly activities, there's something for everyone. Highlights include:

  • Christmas Light Trail, 1km light trail featuring stunning installations and festive displays
  • Christmas market featuring artisanal stalls and holiday treats
  • Choir performances by local and professional groups
  • Family activities, including children’s craft workshops
  • High end street food and seasonal favourites, like mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies.

4. Are tickets required, and how do I purchase them?

Yes, tickets are required for entry to Christmas in Chelsea. You can purchase tickets online through our Ticketing page or on the day at the entrance, subject to availability. We recommend buying your tickets in advance to guarantee your spot, as some dates may sell out.

5. Can I change the date of my ticket?

Unfortunately we are unable to change the date of your ticket after you have booked for any reason, including the weather!

6. Can I bring children?

Absolutely! Christmas in Chelsea is family-friendly and we have a range of activities for children. Children under four enter for free, but they will still need a ticket. Please refer to our Ticketing page for more information on family ticket packages.

7. Is the event accessible for visitors with disabilities?

Yes, the Royal Hospital Chelsea is committed to ensuring accessibility for all visitors.

8. Can I bring an essential carer?

Yes, A disabled person purchasing a ticket may bring one essential carer companion free of charge.

Please purchase one adult / child ticket for the disabled person and then fill in the form below a minimum of three working days prior to the date you wish to visit. Blue badge parking can also be requested via using the form below.

9. Can I bring my dog?

While we love pets, only service dogs are allowed at the event for the safety and comfort of all visitors.

10. Will food and drinks be available at the event?

Yes! We will have a range of food and drink stalls offering high quality London street food and seasonal favourites. We’ll also have some hearty winter dishes to keep you warm as you explore.

11. What should I wear?

Christmas in Chelsea is outdoors, so we recommend dressing warmly and wearing comfortable footwear. Check the weather forecast before your visit and don’t forget to bring your festive cheer!

12. Can I take photos during the event?

Yes! We encourage you to capture your memories and share them using our event hashtag #Christmasinchelsea. However, please be mindful of other guests and avoid flash photography.

13. What is the history of the Royal Hospital Chelsea?

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a historic site founded in 1682 by King Charles II as a home for veteran soldiers, known as Chelsea Pensioners. Today, it remains a living community of retired soldiers and an iconic part of London’s heritage. Our Christmas event will feature guided tours and exhibitions highlighting the hospital’s rich history.

14. Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?

Tickets are non-refundable.
